Sphero Robotics Competition Teams Are Coming to
Homeschool STEAM!
You already know our Sphero robots from STEAM Fest. Now we're taking it to the next level — bringing competition-level robotics to homeschool students across Southwest Florida.
Meet Homeschool STEAM

Who we are
For years, Homeschool STEAM has brought hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math experiences to homeschool families throughout Manatee, Sarasota, and the greater Southwest Florida region. You've seen our Sphero robots zip across the floor at STEAM Fest, our signature annual event where students of all ages get to build, code, and play.
This year, we're proud to be a Founding Regional Partner bringing official Sphero robotics competition teams to homeschool students — the first program of its kind in our region, and the premiere STEAM program using Sphero robots in homeschool instructional programming.
STEAM Fest was just the beginning. Now, it's time to compete. Robot on!
Robotics For All Ages
Sphero is a trusted name in STEM education, used in classrooms and competition programs across the country. Their robots are built to grow with students — from screen-free early coding with INDI, all the way up to advanced, competition-grade robotics engineering with Blueprint Robotics.
You've already seen Sphero robots in action at our STEAM Fest events. Now, we're bringing that same technology into a structured, season-long program where students don't just play with robots — they build the skills to compete with them.

Teamwork & Collaboration
Students work in small teams
(4-6 students) toward a
shared competitive goal,
building communication and leadership skills.
Real Engineering
& Coding Skills
Hands-on programming experience with Sphero robots, from block-based coding to advanced logic.
Confidence & Community
Students build friendships with other homeschoolers who share their interests, in a supportive, learner-led environment.
Problem Solving
Under Pressure
Competition prep teaches resilience, iteration, and creative thinking when things don't go as planned.
A Real Competitive Experience
Teams compete in official
Sphero-sanctioned events, giving students a taste of tournament-level STEM competition.
A Standout Portfolio Piece
Especially valuable for middle and high schoolers building a transcript, resume, or college application.
Why We’re Launching This & Why Now?
Homeschool students deserve the same access to competitive, team-based STEM opportunities as their traditionally schooled peers — without losing the flexibility and individualized approach that makes homeschooling work for their families.
Robotics competitions teach far more than coding. They teach kids how to problem-solve under pressure, communicate as a team, bounce back from failure, and take pride in building something that actually works. We wanted to bring that experience to our community, built specifically around how homeschool families learn, gather, and grow together.
So we partnered with regional and community organizations to make it happen — combining top-tier Sphero technology, dedicated coaching, and welcoming local spaces where teams can practice and compete.
We want every interested family to be able to participate

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I NEED ROBOTICS EXPERIENCE TO JOIN?
Not at all! Our programs are designed to meet students where they are, whether it's their first time coding or they've been building robots for years.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A
TEAM IS FULL?
Join the waitlist! Once we have enough interest, we open new teams. Waitlists are often exactly how additional teams get started. Join via our interest form here.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGISTRATION AND WORKSHOPS?
Registration secures your student's spot on a team for the season. Workshops are the hands-on sessions where students build their skills and prepare for competition.
