About the Role

Imagine a role where your day involves sparking curiosity through building challenges, conducting fun science experiments, exploring artistic expression, and maybe even embarking on exciting field trip adventures! This is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners and contribute to a thriving educational community.

We’re looking for part-time program contractors for per semester (4 months) engagements, primarily supporting our Homeschool STEAM programs every Wednesday, with exciting opportunities to join our Friday Field Trips.

** For the right candidate, there's an option for permanent part-time employment after completing 6 months of satisfactory participation as a freelancer, particularly by helping to develop, design, and support our educational programs.

*** Classes are mobile and off-site and require travel (usually <1 hour or less from home).

Requirements

What You'll Be Doing as a STEAMventure Facilitator

  • Leading and facilitating engaging STEAM activities for groups of homeschool students (ages 5-12).

  • Creating a fun, inclusive, and hands-on learning environment where children feel empowered to explore and discover.

  • Adapting and implementing curriculum to meet the diverse needs and interests of our students.

  • Bringing a playful attitude and a willingness to jump in and participate in activities – yes, that means embracing your inner child!

  • Collaborating closely with the founder to contribute to the growth and development of our local educational business.

  • Potentially leading and supervising students on optional field trip days (typically Fridays).

  • Working independently and managing your time effectively to prepare for and deliver engaging sessions.

  • Traveling to various locations to facilitate programs, including potential co-op classes and field trips (this is a mobile position).

  • Contributing to a positive and supportive community for both students and parents.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Mastering lessons for classes and workshops, ensuring a deep understanding of the curriculum.

  • Understanding scientific concepts and effectively teaching these concepts in a fun and accessible way to students.

  • Supervising and leading students in classes and groups of 10 to 20 students, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.

  • Helping to design and organize exciting field trips that tie into students' curiosities and passion-based learning.

  • Arriving for classes on time and prepared with all necessary materials and a positive mindset.

  • Adhering to the schedule and program outline/syllabus determined for each program/class or learning pod.

  • Managing student behavior positively and constructively, fostering a respectful and inclusive learning atmosphere.

  • Effectively communicating with parents regarding student progress and program details.

  • Assisting other Team Members as needed to ensure smooth program operations.

  • An understanding of STEAM concepts and a desire to explore them further with young learners.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children, parents, and colleagues.

  • A proactive and entrepreneurial spirit, with a willingness to contribute to the growth of our program and grow professionally with our expanding business long-term.

  • The ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage your responsibilities effectively.

  • A commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment where all children feel valued and respected.

  • An easy-going and flexible attitude, ready to adapt to the dynamic nature of our programs.

  • Required Tech Skills: Experience teaching with educational technology tools, including familiarity with various technology and devices such as iPads.

  • Educational Background: Experienced in Elementary Education (STEAM Education preferred) or a field of science/STEM, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.

  • The ability to effectively work in a busy, high-energy environment.

  • Enjoy working with kids of all ages and diverse abilities.

  • Certifications: Florida Certified Teacher preferred, First Aid and CPR certified or willing to get certified.

  • Willingness to pass a criminal background check.

Bonus Points:

  • Current Florida teaching certification (a significant plus!).

  • Fluency in Spanish (a huge asset in connecting with our diverse community!).

  • Experience in leading educational programs or working with children in a group setting.

  • Familiarity with homeschool environments and philosophies.
